My legs hurt from a full day of walking through the streets of the capital city. This city, with the constant flow of speed walking young adults in their 20’s and 30’s, felt overwhelming at first. The redeeming quality however is that Washington D.C. is a city for the people, this means the federal government full of public servants, tries to provide a positive experience for both American citizens and foreign tourists by offering many affordable options of activities.
We visited multiple of the free Smithsonian museums including the American History Museum and the National Portrait Gallery. Potentially the best part of exploring D.C. with my OHK friends Adam, T.J., Christopher, and Ashley, is that these Grange friends are all massive history and political nerds (I mean that in the nicest of ways) so they basically serve as bickering tour guides tossing out random but relevant facts that help Adam and I, better appreciate our nation’s capital.
Here is a picture of us at the Obama Portrait that just got added this year.
